“La Fuente del Peregrino” was born when O’Neal, who also belongs to Agape, had a dream in the Summer of 1998, as he walked from O Cebreiro to Santiago.
As he was walking, he thought about the more that 150, 000 people that would be walking in the same places during the Holy year in 1999. He had the thought to make the most of the wonderful opportunity that the Camino provides to show the character of Jesus to these thousands of people, through acts of service, hospitality and love.
As Autumn came, after many obstacles along the way, John managed to find Casa Campelo, a typical rustic Galician house in the village of Ligonde, on the 75K of the Camino de Santiago.
Thanks to generous donations, he bought this house and, with a team of volunteers, renovated it until it became the Fuente del Peregrino that we have today.
In May 1999 The Fuente del Peregrino opened its doors for the first time.
Our dream is to keep expanding, opening new ways to show the unconditional love of God through acts of service and through hospitality.
